Thesis Binding

The book has a hard cover, which is completely covered with buckram or other suitable material of your choice. If applicable, the spine and / or front cover can be lettered according to the standard requirements of your university.

Quarter Flush

After the book is sewn a folded end-paper is attached to the ends and a heavy board is glued to the end-paper. The spine is then covered in buckram with the colour of your choice or one suitably matching the cover of a paper back which can be glued onto the hard covers. The book is then cut flush to the required size. Quarter flushes can be lettered depending on the thickness of the book.

Full Binding

The book has a hard cover, which is completely covered with buckram or other suitable material of your choice. The spine can be lettered with the title of your choice in a range of colours.

Soft Binding

A clear plastic sheet is placed on the front of the book and a hard card is placed at the back of the book. It is then sewn together and a piece of buckram or cloth is glued over the spine.

Half Binding

The book has a hard cover where the spine and the corners of the covers are of one colour and the rest of the cover is a different colour. The spine can be lettered with the title of your choice in a range of colours. There is extra labour in making this type of cover so it attracts a premium.

Specialty Binding

This can be any of the previous styles. They can have panels of different colours on the spine. eg. legal binding or any style of your choice. These can also include video slips, CD Pockets, map/plan pouches, etc.
